Roggenart Bistro and Cafe

Roggenart European Bakery, Bistro, and Cafe offers excellent Italian coffee and great food. Try the espresso bonbon, a shot of espresso with condensed milk, or the iced coffee. Several types of lattes are available, including tiramisu, gingerbread, coconut, pumpkin pie, Irish cream, marshmallow, cheesecake, and banana caramel. Mocha options include dark chocolate, white chocolate, toffee caramel, white truffle raspberry, strawberry dark chocolate, and peppermint dark chocolate.

Instead of milk, you can choose oat milk, coconut milk, almond milk, soy milk, heavy cream, or half-and-half. With your coffee, you can enjoy a cherry chocolate, blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, sweet cheese, or apple Danish. You can also choose a raisin apricot, cinnamon sugar, chocolate, or marzipan croissant. Breakfast and lunch sandwiches are available as well.

You can visit this place on weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on weekends from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Delivery is available, and people who work at Roggenart remotely can get unlimited free drink refills. The pastries are made fresh every day, and you can often find great deals near closing time.

Nourishing Journey

The Nourishing Journey Wellness Center & Organic Cafe serves food and drinks made with organic, grass-fed, and/or natural ingredients. Try the chocolate blended coffee with vanilla syrup, homemade hot cocoa mix, and whole milk, coconut milk, or almond milk. Several types of teas are available, including black, white, chai, green, and herbal teas. If you can’t decide between coffee and tea, pick the chai blended coffee. It has tea, coffee, half-and-half, and vanilla syrup. The golden milk has almond milk, turmeric powder, coconut milk, fresh ginger, cinnamon, local honey, and black pepper.

A variety of sandwiches are available. You can also order peanut butter toast with banana slices, honey, and chia seeds or pesto toast with sliced tomatoes and garlic. Other options include chocolate avocado mousse, blueberry and pumpkin muffins, gluten-free cinnamon rolls, and more. This place is also a working wellness center that helps people improve their health and well-being. You can visit from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Ragamuffins Coffee House

Ragamuffins is in Laurel, about 20 minutes away from Columbia. This pour-over coffee bar serves beans from around the world, and they don’t use any added sugar or syrups. Menu items include espresso, macchiato, cappuccino, latte, Spanish latte, cold brew, and more. You can also choose hot cocoa, chai latte, iced tea, hot tea, kombucha, or lemonade. Several snacks are available, including bagels, muffins, scones, oatmeal, quiches, croissants, tarts, yogurt, cookies, ice cream, and more. On some days, you can enjoy live music, yoga classes, coffee brewing classes, and more. This place is open from Tuesday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. It has comfortable couches and lots of interesting mugs.

La Madeleine

La Madeleine coffee shop and bakery offers a variety of delicious options, including cafe latte topped with cocoa or cinnamon, caramel macchiato, cappuccino, and espresso. You can also choose hot chocolate, mango breeze iced tea, or hot herbal tea. Breakfast is available all day, and you can try quiche, eggs, a breakfast croissant, an omelet, or cinnamon bun French toast with strawberries Romanoff sauce.

Other options include pesto pasta with chicken or roasted shrimp, chicken la Madeleine with creamy wild mushroom sauce, and glazed salmon with oven-roasted vegetables. For dessert, you can enjoy a fresh fruit tart, caramel creme brulee, a French vanilla and fruit parfait, a dark cherry and Greek yogurt Danish, or a chocolate or lemon tart. This place is open from Sunday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and it closes at 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Mad City Coffee

Mad City Coffee is a coffee shop and coffee roaster that’s only a few minutes away from the Columbia Mall and Howard Community College. It has a quaint, relaxed atmosphere, and free Wi-Fi is available. There are plenty of seats where you can catch up on some work or just relax with your favorite novel. You can also buy 42 flavored coffees with 20 origins by the pound. There’s even an online store where you can order to have it delivered.

Try the Oregon chai with black tea, honey, honey, vanilla, and spices or the Ghirardelli premium cocoa with mint. You can also choose cappuccino, espresso, cafe au lait, raspberry white hot chocolate with whipped cream, or a spiced chai latte. For breakfast, you can get Danishes, muffins, pastries, bagels, or biscotti. Fruit salad and fresh vegan cookies are available as well. Other options include egg salad, tuna salad, shrimp salad, turkey, and ham sandwiches.

The turkey bacon wrap has havarti cheese, bacon, roasted red peppers, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and balsamic vinaigrette. The garden veggie wrap comes with garlic hummus, avocado, lettuce, tomato, red onion, cucumber, and Swiss cheese. You can visit Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monthly specials on coffee and food are available, and Mad City Coffee often hosts live music.

Busboys and Poets 

Busboys and Poets is a bar, restaurant, coffee shop, and bookstore. It’s a popular place for artists, writers, and poets. Try the cafĂ© Medici with chocolate, two shots of espresso, whipped cream, and an orange slice or the thin mint latte with organic mint syrup, chocolate, espresso, and steamed milk. You can visit from Sunday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
