Chevy Silverado Service Plan

2023 Chevy Silverado Offroad

When you purchase a Chevrolet Silverado pickup, the best truck on the planet, it's up to you to keep it running at its peak and looking great. However, you'll need more than just a weekly wash, wax, and detailing to do so. Your Silverado requires various routine services and regularly scheduled maintenance to achieve optimal performance.

Depending on your make and model, the services and intervals can change. We always recommend checking your owner's manual for the correct intervals. However, if you misplaced your manual, feel free to contact our service department, and one of our techs here at Koons Clarksville Chevrolet Buick GMC will happily provide you with the information you seek.

Chevrolet Silverado 7,500-Mile Service Interval

As the engine and oil technology improve, your new Chevrolet should run and look great at 7,500 miles. However, your engine will need its oil changed at this milestone. When you bring your Silverado to Koons Clarksville Chevrolet Buick GMC at this time, we'll change the oil and filter and give your truck a multi-point inspection. This will include checking your brake system, tires, suspension, and fluid levels. We don't expect to find any issues this early on, except possibly rotating your tires.

You need to change your oil and filter every 7,500 miles, regardless of how well your Silverado runs. The engine oil protects the many moving internal parts from the high heat and friction the combustion process creates. Unfortunately, even the finest oil breaks down over time. Oil also collects particulates and contaminants, byproducts of the combustion process. As a result, your oil loses its viscosity or its ability to lubricate and protect. Therefore, you should change it for maximum protection.

Chevrolet Silverado 15,000-Mile Service Interval

In addition to changing the oil and providing a multi-point inspection, we'll rotate your tires if we haven't already. This will prolong their life and improve safety. Your tires wear unevenly between the front and rear axle, which is why we recommend a tire rotation. When you rotate the tires, you can spread the wear more evenly over time on all four tires.

Our inspection will also include a check of your wheel alignment. In most cases, your Silverado will need the wheels aligned for safety and performance. Chevrolet designed your Silverado's wheels to sit in a precise location within the steering and suspension system. Over time, the wheels move out of position through no fault of your own.

Sometimes this happens because of a single jarring incident, such as that log you struck on your off-road excursion, or the pothole in downtown Clarksville that keeps getting bigger. You don't have to wait until you reach 15,000 miles to get your wheels aligned. You'll know you need an alignment if your Silverado drifts to either side when you steer straight.

Aligning your wheels helps prolong the life of your tires, as when they aren't properly aligned, they wear unevenly and more quickly.

Chevrolet Silverado 22,500-Mile Service Interval

At this interval, you'll receive an oil change and multi-point inspection. Again, we might rotate the tires, depending on when we did this last. Our inspection will expand to search for wear items, such as cabin and engine air filters, wiper blades, and brake pads.

We often find these items are ready for replacement at this stage, particularly the brake pads. Your Silverado relies on its pads to bring it to a controlled stop in normal and emergency situations. You may not have noticed a drop in brake performance because it happens gradually. But worn brake pads don't provide the same control as new ones.

Our technicians recommend having your brake pads replaced before they wear out entirely. Waiting can cause more serious damage to your discs or rotors, which can cost hundreds of dollars to replace versus $15-$20 per pad.

Chevrolet Silverado 45,000-Mile Service Interval

You'll want to continue bringing your Silverado in for oil changes and multi-point inspections between 22,500-45,000 miles. Our inspection expands further as we look at your fuel system, including its hoses, filters, and sensors. We also inspect your engine cooling system to ensure it's functioning properly.

However, at 45,000 miles, your Silverado needs other important services performed. We'll change your transmission fluid and filter at this point. We also change your transfer case fluid if you have a four-wheel-drive model. These fluids protect your transmission and transfer case much the same way as your engine oil protects the engine. Similarly, these fluids break down and pick up contaminants that hamper their performance. Changing them now will improve performance and efficiency.

Chevrolet Silverado 60,000-Mile Service Interval

Again, we recommend you keep up with your oil changes every 7,500 miles between 45,000 and 60,000 miles. However, you'll need additional maintenance at this interval. This is often when spark plugs begin to fail.

This is normal and expected but shouldn't be ignored. It's possible you've noticed a drop in performance. You might be a little slower accelerating and don't get quite as far on a full tank of gas as you used to.

Replacing your spark plugs will improve engine performance, resulting in a more responsive throttle and improved gas mileage. Not changing your spark plugs will eventually cause your engine to misfire. Engine misfires can cause significant damage to your cylinders and gaskets and lead to expensive repairs.

Chevrolet Silverado 95,000-Mile Service Interval

You've owned your Silverado for 6-8 years by now. You've enjoyed driving without a car payment and, if you've kept up with your regular maintenance, you've had very few issues. We'll perform all the services we did at your 45,000-mile checkup, and we will thoroughly inspect your vehicle.

However, it's decision time. Do you continue driving your Chevrolet Silverado, or do you sell or trade it in and capitalize on its value before you hit 100,000 miles? You don't have a bad choice. If you maintained your truck as directed, you'll get top dollar for it, or you can rely on it for another 6-8 years.
