Explore Nature With the Howard County Conservancy

The Howard County Conservancy promotes environmental stewardship and land preservation. Through its work, the conservancy educates adults and children about the wonders of the natural world. Programs focus on introducing the public to the native flora and fauna that call home the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

Visit Mt. Pleasant, a 232-acre site featuring rolling hills and environmental habitats that support more than 140 species of birds and other wildlife. The property’s carriage house, blacksmith shop, bank barn, wagon shed, corn crib, and more attractions will introduce your kids to the role of farming within the history of the Patapsco Valley.

Check the Howard County Conservancy’s website for dates and information about public programs spotlighting nature and outdoor exploration topics. Recent programs have focused on identifying tree species on a tree ID walk and using natural materials to create a woodland fairy house.
