If you’ve been looking at new crossover SUVs, the Trailblazer and Equinox by Chevrolet stand out in a crowded market. The two vehicles have the stylish good looks you crave paired with a powertrain that delivers exceptional performance in various conditions.

Chevy loaded both SUVs with the latest technology to keep you connected and in control no matter where your busy life takes you. So how do you choose between them? That’s why we put together this head-to-head comparison to help you make an informed decision when choosing your next SUV.

Curb Appeal

The Trailblazer comes in four available trims — LS, LT, ACTIV, and the RS. Each trim features subtle differences yet remains unmistakably Trailblazer. The aggressive front fascia comes with halogen headlights and fog lamps on every trim but the base LS. The signature daytime running lamps are standard on every trim. LS, LT, and RS trims feature a lower front fascia in black, while the ACTIV upgrades to a titanium chrome-plated version.

The sculpted side body and wide stance give every Trailblazer an athletic profile. Stylish silver roof rails come on the LT trim, while the RS and ACTIV come in black. Chevy provides you the option for a Summit White roof with select colors on the ACTIV trim. The Trailblazer LS, LT, and ACTIV roll on 17-inch aluminum wheels in various styles. The RS features 18-inch aluminum wheels in high-gloss black.

The Trailblazer’s rear fascia sports LED taillights and a center-mounted LED brake light on the manual liftgate. You can upgrade to the power programmable liftgate with logo projection on every trim except the LS.

Chevy’s Equinox also comes in four trim levels — LS, LT, RS, and Premier. The Equinox features LED headlights standard on every trim that highlights its bold front fascia.  Fog lamps come with the Premier trim only. Curved lines along the side of the Equinox add to its sleek style. Chevy adds roof-mounted side rails to the Premier and RS trims, and you can add them to the LT trim as an option.

The rear liftgate operates manually on the LS and LT trims. The RS model upgrades to a power programmable version, while the Premier trims adds the hands-free liftgate that opens by waving your foot beneath the sensor with the key fob in your pocket.

LT and LS models roll on 17-inch aluminum wheels. You get 18-inch aluminum wheels in silver on the Premier trim, while the RS trim features sporty 19-inch aluminum wheels in black.

Powerful Performance

Chevy uses their 1.2-liter ECOTEC turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine standard in every Trailblazer trim with front-wheel drive. This engine pairs with a continuously variable transmission to deliver 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. When you opt for the all-wheel-drive, you get a 1.3-liter ECOTEC turbocharged inline four-cylinder and a nine-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. This powertrain gives you 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque.

With all-wheel-drive, you get the impressive performance you can activate under various conditions. This system monitors all four wheels and intelligently delivers power to the wheels that can use it most for superior traction in adverse conditions. The RS and ACTIV trims have a four-pin wire harness standard and the option for a trailer hitch. You can tow up to 1,000 pounds when properly equipped. You can add the trailer package as an option on the LT trim.

In the Equinox you get Chevy’s 1.5-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine with dual overhead cams with direct injection and variable valve timing technology. Chevy mates this engine with a six-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission. This powertrain delivers an impressive 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque.

You can opt for an all-wheel-drive on every Equinox. The all-wheel drive automatically adjusts power to all four wheels to deliver exceptional traction on various surfaces.

Interior Comfort and Convenience

Slipping into the cabin of the Chevrolet Trailblazer, the driver enjoys a 10-way power-adjustable seat with power lumbar while the passenger gets a four-way manually adjustable seat. Both front seats come with heating capability on the upper trims. Cloth upholstery in various colors comes standard, or you can upgrade to leatherette seating material. You also get a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel on the RS and ACTIV models.

The rear seat on the Trailblazer split-folds for additional cargo configurations. The front passenger seat folds flat, along with the rear seat to open up 8.5 feet of cargo length and 54.4 cubic feet of cargo space.

Every Trailblazer gets Chevy’s Infotainment 3 system with a 7-inch touchscreen as standard. You can upgrade to the Infotainment 3 Plus system with an 8-inch touchscreen as an option. Chevy’s Infotainment 3 systems allow you to sync your smartphones for hands-free operation. You can send and receive calls, access your favorite apps, stream your playlists, and much more using intuitive voice commands.

On the Chevrolet Equinox, the upper trims get an 8-way power-adjustable driver and front passenger seat with heating. Premium cloth upholstery comes standard on the lower trims. You can opt for signature leather on the RS model, and the Premier trim features leather seats standard. The Premier trim also offers heated rear outboard seats as an option. The leather-wrapped heated steering wheel comes standard on the Premier, and you can add it to the RS.

The Equinox also features a split-fold rear seat and a front passenger seat that folds flat. You get an impressive 63.9 cubic feet of cargo space. Every Equinox trim gets the same Chevy Infotainment 3 system with the 7-inch touchscreen and the option for the Infotainment 3 Plus system with an 8-inch touchscreen.
